Looking Down on Donard

2020
Description
The mapping elements are used within these recent works as a process to transform defined mapping vocabulary, contours, into a more fluid and dynamic framework. Through a process of constantly dividing contours to a point where the original information is transformed into a surface that suggests movement and flow. From a distance, the surfaces “pulse” and suggest an almost 3-dimensional aspect of topography and yet, up close, each hand drawn line is visible as a thin, fragile and slightly erratic direction.
