Timeline

2014
Description
“Timeline” aims to celebrate the historical and modern significance of Dungannon by taking the viewer on a visual journey from the past to the present. The sculpture uses the form of ancient “gold lunula” and “penannular brooches” to create a sweeping arc shape visually linking the past and the present through the use of patterns and designs connected to both ancient historical sources and modern industrial histories. These histories are represented by patterns ranging from early “Celtic” culture, through penannular brooche designs of the type worn in the era of the O’Neil dynasties of ancient kings, through to designs associated with the production of “linen”.
