Island, Newfoundland

2004
Description
This painting is representative of the early transition from the map based collaged works to surfaces that were more ambiguous, where the layers and histories of mark making were all visible, created by successive washes of thin paint over graphite marks, reflecting my interest in drawing. A series of early works were based on research and drawing completed during a 6 week residency at Gros Morne National Park in Newfoundland, Canada.

Acrylic and graphite on canvas.
